You'll notice that we've changed the interface of our search area significantly. We did this to allow you to see more information on the screen at once. We eliminated the pop-up arrows that were taking up space in several fields. To access the pop-up windows, you'll now double-click on the title of the field. For example, to find a list of area codes available, double-click on the title that says "Phone."
We've added a new pop-up windows in the city field. Activate the city pop-up to view all the cities on the CD you're using. (Not available in Home Phone or Direct Phone.)
Another change we've made to the search area (except in Home Phone) is the elimination of the business field. Instead of listing a "B" or and "R" to indicate business or residential, a bullet (a small circle) is displayed to the left of each business listing. To limit searches to only businesses or residences, activate the pop-up in the Name field. Then pick Business, Residential, or All. In addition, by using the Zip pop-up window, you can restrict the search to only return listings with Zip+4 information if you desire.
When you use the SIC pop-up window, the SIC codes are now listed in numerical order, rather than alphabetically. Since similar types of businesses have similar numbers, this means that similar business types will be grouped together in the list.
Exporting changes
Tab-delimited exporting is now supported.
Sereval of our export formats are now customizable. For the DBF, ASCII comma-delimited, and tab-delimited formats, click on the "Customize" button after you choose the format you want.
In the Customize window, you can specify which fields you want to export and which you don't. You could export all the fields, or just the name and phone number, or any other combination.
You can also specify whether the Name and Address fields should be separated into their component parts. You can export the full name in one field (e.g. "Jim Bryant") or the first and last names in separate fields ("Bryant", "Jim"). You could also export the full address in one field ("201 Main Street 2A") or the house number, street name, and apartment number in separate fields ("201", "Main Street", "2A").
You can now append listings to an existing file. When saving the file, simply click the "Append" button instead of the "Save" button.
Misc. changes
You can type in up to 127 characters in each field. This is useful if you are only interested in certain specific locations, for example - you can search for "Danvers .or. Boston .or. Natick" etc.
We now have direct support for the most common Avery labels. In the Label Editor, simply select the label you want to use from the pop-up menu. The correct settings will be filled in for you automatically.
